Umrah Visa Requirements 2026

Trusted by 100,000+ travellers worldwide

Everything you need to qualify for an Umrah visa in 2026 — from passport and photo rules to vaccinations and the free Nusuk permit. Requirements are the same whether you travel on the Saudi tourist eVisa or a dedicated Umrah visa.

Who is eligible for an Umrah visa?

Muslims of any nationality can perform Umrah. Depending on your passport, you either use the Saudi tourist eVisa (available to citizens of many countries) or a dedicated Umrah visa issued through an approved travel agent.

Women of any age may now perform Umrah without a male guardian (mahram), travelling individually or in a group.

  • Citizens of tourist-eVisa-eligible countries can perform Umrah on the eVisa.
  • Other nationalities apply for a dedicated Umrah visa via an approved agent.
  • GCC nationals need no entry visa at all.

Documents you need

The core document set is the same across routes. Have these ready before you apply:

  • Passport valid for at least 6 months from your arrival date.
  • A recent colour passport photo with a white background.
  • Confirmed return or onward flight tickets.
  • Proof of accommodation or a confirmed Umrah package.
  • Proof of meningococcal ACWY vaccination (plus polio for some countries).

Mandatory vaccinations

A meningococcal ACWY vaccination is mandatory for all Umrah pilgrims and must be taken at least 10 days before arrival. Travellers from certain countries (including Pakistan, Afghanistan and Nigeria) must also show proof of polio vaccination. Seasonal flu and up-to-date COVID-19 vaccination are recommended.

The Nusuk Umrah permit

Whichever visa you hold, you must book a free Umrah permit through the official Nusuk app before entering the Grand Mosque in Mecca. The permit manages crowd flow and, during peak periods, your Rawdah visit slot in Medina.
